PRESS RELEASE Governments commit to step up the global HIV response to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030

GENEVA, 14 December 2023—The 53rd meeting of UNAIDS’ Programme Coordinating Board (PCB) concluded today in Geneva, Switzerland, with Board members making strong commitments to redouble efforts to end AIDS by 2030. In her remarks to the Board the Executive Director of UNAIDS Winnie Byanyima said, “I wish I could tell you now was the time to relax, but we are not done yet. And pulling back before we are done—that is how pandemics resurge; how the least powerful get left behind; how the virus thrives. In a pandemic, there is no standing still. Global Fund Applauds Cambodia’s Success in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS

On the morning of December 13th, 2023, H.E. IENG Mouly, Senior Minister and Chair of the National AIDS Authority met with Mr. Mark Edington, Head of the Grant Management Division of the Global Fund, and Mr. Urban Weber, Head of Department – High Impact Asia, at the Global Fund Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. H.E. IENG Mouly shared about Cambodia’s progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Cambodia’s 6th National Strategy for Comprehensive and Multi-sectoral response to ending AIDS, and the progress on drafting the national policy to end AIDS and the sustainable AIDS program. UNAIDS Praises Cambodia's AIDS Programme

On the morning of December 12th, 2023, H.E. IENG Mouly, Senior Minister and Chair of the National AIDS Authority of Cambodia, attended the 53rd Meeting of the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board in Geneva, Switzerland and delivered remarks about Cambodia’s progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS. His Excellency IENG Mouly emphasized Cambodia’s commitment towards ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2028 and meeting the 95-95-95 targets on time. Cambodia has already achieved a response rate of 86-99-98 by the end of 2022 and only still needs to attain the first 95 target. Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority (NAA), presided over the 6th Consultation Workshop on the Preparation of the Sixth National Comprehensive Strategic Plan for HIV/AIDS (2024-2028) on the morning of Thursday, October 19, 2023. This workshop was attended by Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, Representatives of Government Institutions, Civil Society Organizations, and People Living with HIV. H.E. H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority (NAA), was asked to be a guest speaker at the National Television of Cambodia (TVK) on the 32nd Anniversary of the Paris Peace Agreement of October 23, 1991 on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, a living signatory, recalled the process of the Paris Peace Agreement talks that brought about peace and development. October 23 is considered to be a historic day for the end of the Cambodia Conflict. CNC TV Interviews H.E. Ieng Mouly on The Paris Peace Agreements

Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority (NAA), allowed CNC TV to conduct an interview on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, to create a documentary on The Paris Peace Agreements and the countries that were signatories. The Paris Peace Agreements were about cessation of hostilities, the general election, human rights, sovereignty,  independence, neutrality and national unity of Cambodia. Meeting to Review the National Policy to End HIV/AIDS by 2025 and the Sustainability of the HIV/AIDS program 2023-2028

H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority (NAA), chaired a leadership meeting with the participation of  Vice-Chairs, Advisors, and the Secretary-General, on the morning of September 22, 2023, at 9 A.M. H.E. Tia Phalla reported to the Senior Minister, before the start of the meeting, on the readiness to attend the meeting in Geneva, Switzerland in December of 2023, ASEAN's Statement on HIV/AIDS, and to introduce the international role of Cambodia as a member of the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board.
