On the morning of December 12th, 2023, H.E. IENG Mouly, Senior Minister and Chair of the National AIDS Authority of Cambodia, attended the 53rd Meeting of the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board in Geneva, Switzerland and delivered remarks about Cambodia’s progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
His Excellency IENG Mouly emphasized Cambodia’s commitment towards ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2028 and meeting the 95-95-95 targets on time. Cambodia has already achieved a response rate of 86-99-98 by the end of 2022 and only still needs to attain the first 95 target.
In order to do so, Cambodia has been applying a people-centered approach as stipulated in the Global AIDS Strategy 2021-2026. This has been applied through the “Dynamic of Stakeholders System” approach of the Royal Government’s Pentagonal Strategy.
Furthermore, Cambodia’s 6th National Strategy for Comprehensive and Multi-sectoral response to HIV/AIDS will fulfill the target of ending AIDS.
After listening to the remarks delivered by all members, Ms Winnie Byanyima, UNAIDS Executive Director took the opportunity before the conclusion to praise Cambodia's AIDS programme for being a successful one in the Asia- Pacific region especially in multi-sectoral response.
