A Reception to Celebrate the 67th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar
On January 8, 2014, H. E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, represented the Royal Government of Cambodia as a guest of honor at a reception to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at the Intercontinental Hotel, Phnom Penh with the participation of senior officials in the Royal Government, Ambassadors and diplomats to Cambodia, Myanmar citizens and friends of Myanmar in Cambodia.
After welcoming and expressing his thankfulness to all the guests, H. E. U Cho Htun Aung, Ambassador of Myanmar to Cambodia delivered his speech by mentioning on the diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Cambodia which was started in 1955. This friendly relationship has been maintained and expanded, he stressed. The Ambassador expressed his thankfulness to the government of Cambodia, in its capacity as the Chairman of ASEAN in 2012, who sent the observers to monitor an election in Myanmar. As a result, the observers declared that the election was taken place in a free and fair manner. Cambodia has also supported Myanmar to host ASEAN summits in 2014, he further elaborated. To conclude his speech, H. E. Ambassador proposed a toast to that auspicious occasion.
Then, H. E. Senior Ministerexpressed his congratulations to the Government and the people of Myanmar for successfully hosting the 24th and 25th ASEAN summits in Nay Pyi Tew . He also asked all participants to join him in a toast on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia to celebrate the Independence Day of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
H. E. Senior Minister wished H. E. U Thein Sein, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Madam, His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, Her Majesty Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, good heath and people of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar happiness and prosperity.
To conclude his speech, H. E. Senior Minister praised the friendship and good cooperation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
