The consultation meeting on young key populations (YKPs) related HIV/AIDS in Cambodia was conducted on June 20, 2014, at National AIDS Authority, which chaired by H.E. Dr. Teng Kunthy, Secretary General of National AIDS Authority and chairman of Technical Youth Task Force. There were participant’s amount 25 people who were from National AIDS Authority, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, KHANA, UNESCO, OneWorld, RHAC, KORSANG, PHD, FHI360, MSM Network, EW Networks and individuals young key populations.

 

The meeting aimed to review the programs implementation on young key populations (YKPs) related HIV/AIDS, SRHR and Drug, to stimulate the new policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia to fight HIV/AIDS, and to discuss in addressing the new strategic and activities which is specifying on young people in Cambodia. It was also discussing about New Generation Leadership Training for YKPs in Cambodia.

 

H.E. Dr. Teng Kunthy addressed that, the Consultation Meeting on Young Key Populations related HIV/AIDS in Cambodia is an important meeting to come up together to discuss about the concept paper development on KYKPs which basically referred to the new policy of the royal government of Cambodia in term of HIV and AIDS response. He added, this is also fulfilling the gaps of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in promoting the HIV/AIDS among out of school students.

 

After the fully discussion, all members of the meeting has agreed to identify with five target groups in order to put into the concept paper in such young MSM, young TG, young EW, young PWUD/PWID, and young PLHIV.
