
On the morning of November 24, 2016 at the Office of the Council of Ministers, His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly presided over the National AIDS Authority’s 2016 Annual Conference. Under the direct leadership of His Excellency the Senior Minister, the conference listened to and jointly reviewed, discussed, and shared successes scored by the Royal Government in the fight against HIV epidemic, with the National AIDS Authority being the national leading and coordinating institution, the Ministry of Health in charge of providing care and treatment, and participation by various concerned ministries and entities, subnational administrations, development partners, civil society organizations to attain achievements in the work of fighting against AIDS in 2016. The conference also held discussion to seek solutions to diverse challenges encountered in the improvement of the quality of social protection, determine the poverty status of families with members living with AIDS, expand the coverage of treatment services, continue to promote HIV infection prevention services, motivate the implementation of the 100% condom use policy at entertainment establishments and among the citizens infected with HIV, and promote HIV blood test and early treatment in order to further reduce HIV epidemic. His Excellency Ieng Mouly thanked Their Excellencies, Lok Chumteav, ladies, and gentlemen the members of the National AIDS Authority Conference; the Ministry of Health; the Ministry of Economy and Finance; the sub-national administrations; development partners; civil society organizations; aid donors, and the citizens infected with HIV for their close cooperation and for having technically, strategically, and politically assisted each other with human and financial resources in the complicated task of fighting against and responding to HIV epidemic, which steadily needs time and efforts to enable us to move towards the ambitious objective of eradicating HIV by 2025.
