Ieng Mouly, Senior Minister in charge of special mission and Chair of the National AIDS Authority, presided over a retreat of the National AIDS Authority at Sereipheap Hotel in Siem Reap province town on March 3-4, 2016. The retreat was also attended by Their Excellencies and Louk Chumteav, vice Chairs, advisers, Secretary General, and Deputy Secretary General, as well as ladies and gentlemen, departmental heads and deputy heads, and all the National AIDS Authority officials. Speaking to open the retreat, Senior Minister Ieng Mouly asked all the subordinate leaders and officials to make use of this valuable time to hold discussion; exchange, share, and improve ideas, in a brotherly and constructive fashion, on experiences, successes, shortcomings, and diverse major challenges of specific works encountered in order to direct the tasks appropriately towards anticipated objectives and timeframes as planned, determined, and desired. The Senior Minister reminded the gathering that the fight against and response to the HIV/AIDS spread was a task requiring long-term, concerted efforts, for so far science had still been unable to discover any medicine that could treat and cure people infected with HIV yet. The fight against AIDS needs to continue although our country has scored achievements and major successes in the past. In the context of the decline in international aid, we have to strive to use every means we possesses, including common resources and activities of all the national institutions, to stay as the master of the combat against AIDS. We have to conduct study on the role of the National AIDS Authority, which should lead in taking initiatives, creating favorable conditions for all the institution members of the Authority, and undertaking actions and all manner of activities to prevent HIV from spreading further. In the end, the Senior Minister wished the National AIDS Authority retreat success as planned, in accordance with its goal.
