His Excellency Ieng Mouly presides over meeting of the Country Coordinating Committee of the Global Fund for Cambodia

His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority and of the Country Coordinating Committee of the Global Fund for Cambodia (CCC), presided over the first meeting in 2016 of the Committee at the National AIDS Authority Headquarters at 1400 in the afternoon of January 12, 2016.

 

Attendees at the meeting were:

 

·         Representatives of the concerned ministries of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

·         UN representatives from WHO and UNAIDS.

·         Development partners representing the Embassies of France, Germany, and the United States.

·         Representatives of people living with patients infected with AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

·         Representatives of civil society, consisting of nongovernmental organizations involved in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, higher education institutions, and the private sector.

 

The meeting focused importantly on the election of the Chair of the Country Coordinating Committee for a two-year mandate (2016-2017).Twenty members of the Committee,

who participated in the meeting, were entitled to take part in the voting to elect the committee chair.

  

The voting results were as follows:

 

The only candidate, standing in the election for the Chair of the Committee, was Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority. After votes were cast, he received 20 endorsing votes out of the total 20 votes cast, or 100% votes. The result showed that the members were in unanimity to bestow trust on the endeavor of and success achieved under the past leadership of Senior Minister. He was overwhelmingly elected as the Chair of the Country Coordinating Committee of the Global Fund for Cambodia for the new 2016-2017 mandate.

 

Senior Minister Ieng Mouly expressed profound thanks to all committee members, for their faith in electing him as Chair again, allowing him to continue to lead the new-mandate committee and participate in combating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria further.

 

Moreover, Dr. Dong Il Ahn, head of the World Health Organization to Cambodia, and Mr. Chhum Sopha, representative of nongovernmental organizations, were as well elected as Vice Chairs of the Country Coordinating Committee of the Global Fund for Cambodia.
