On the morning of December 1, 2015 at Chaktomuk Conference Hall, a commemoration of the World AIDS Day was held under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister Lok Chumteav Men Sam An, High Representative of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Attending the event were His Excellency Mam Bun Heng, Minister of Health and First Vice Chair of the National AIDS Authority, Their Excellencies and Lok Chumteav Secretaries of State and Undersecretaries of State, Presidents of the capital and provincial AIDS Secretariats, Leaders and Public servants of the National AIDS Authority, Buddhist monks, and students in the number of 600.
His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, delivered a speech welcoming the ceremony and presenting a report on the progress in response to the spread of AIDS and the situation of the fight against in the context of the decline in overseas assistance.
Afterwards, representatives of civil society and network of AIDS carriers and Ms. Marie Odile Edmond, Head of the UNAIDS to Cambodia, gave speeches presenting their views on activities and challenges in the battle against AIDS in the past and in the time to come.
Lok Chumteav Men Sam An, the High Representative of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, who took part in the commemoration of the World AIDS Day of 1 December, underscored the high mindfulness of Samdech Kittipritbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen to the assistance in the combat against AIDS in her capacity as President of the Cambodian Red Cross and an outstanding champion in the Asia-Pacific region in the fight against AIDS.
Lok Chumteav, the High Representative of Samdech Techo Prime Minister, expressed support of the Royal Government, which considers the work of fighting against AIDS a high priority, and offered a number of recommendations for further implementation by the National AIDS Authority.
