His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of National AIDS Authority Meets With Global Fund Delegation

In the afternoon of October 28, 2015 at the National AIDS Authority Headquarters, Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, held a meeting with a high ranking delegation of the Global Fund led by Mr. Mark Edington, head of the Global Fund’s Grant Management. Attending the meeting were His Excellency Tia Phalla, Vice Chair of the National AIDS Authority; Ms. Nicole Delaney, Senior Fund Portfolio Manager of the Global Fundand Jan de Jong of the Local Fund Agent. On behalf of the Royal Government, Senior Minister Ieng Mouly extended welcome to the delegation and expressed thanks to the Global Fund for its aid to Cambodia over the past 10 years, including some US$93 million it has agreed to grant to Cambodia for battling AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria and strengthening health system between 2015 and 2017. The senior minister also expressed thanks to the Global Fund for having heedfully paid attention to presenting varied propositions, allowing the Royal Government to have options to consider and accept them for implementation. The Royal Government was constantly prepared to collaborate with the Global Fund in carrying out its programs with transparency and accountability. The Global Fund delegation expressed satisfaction with and commendation for the endeavor exerted by the Senior Minister, in his capacity as the Chair of the Coordinating Committee for Cambodia, in helping arrange consultative meetings to seek solutions to some issues with the Royal Government, development partners, and nongovernmental organizations. The delegation concurred that an implementation, with transparency and accountability, might be factor in spurring the Global Fund into continuing to further grant aid to Cambodia after 2017. The meeting concluded in a pleasant and cordial atmosphere.
