H. E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly Presides over the Opening Session of the National Consultative Workshop on Advancing HIV-Sensitive Social Protection in Cambodia
On October 2, 2014, at the Cambodiana Hotel, H. E. Ieng Mouly, Senior Minister, Chairman of NAA and Chairman of the Country Coordinating Committee (CCC) presided over the Opening Session of the National Consultative Workshop on Advancing HIV-Sensitive Social Protection in Cambodia.
The workshop was held to debate on Advancing HIV-Sensitive Social Protection in Cambodia with the participation of around 100 participants from countries in the region and technical partners for UNAIDS, UNDP and representatives from relevant ministries and institutions.
Speaking at the Opening Session, H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly stressed on the success that has made Cambodia proud in the fight against AIDS in which the prevalence rate has kept falling. The average new infections were between 0.7 and 0.6 in 2013 and will fall to 0.4 soon.
H. E. Senior Minister welcomed the idea of including people living with HIV and key affected populations in those who have been given ID Poor in order for them to receive Health Equity Fund (HEF). Normally, AIDS patients will die if they have no mean to receive regular treatment service. For this reason, if there are only ARV and no mean to get it, they are still at high risk, H. E. Senior Minister further elaborated.
