A NAA Delegation Monitors AIDS Response in Takeo Province

On Friday, September 19, 2014, H. E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chairman of the National AIDS Authority led a delegation to monitor AIDS response at sub-national level at Partner in Compassion situated in Opot pagoda, Sromorch He village, Chombork Commune, Bati dirstrict, Takeo province.

Members of the delegation composed of H. E. Dr. Tia Phala, Vice-Chairman of NAA, H. E. Kong Rotha, Vice-Chairman of NAA and Chief of the Cabinet, H. E. Lem Pichpisey, Advisor to NAA, Dr. Ros Seilavath, Deputy Secretary General of NAA and Official of the Cabinet of the Chairman of NAA.

After listening to the welcome remarks delivered by Mrs. Klaing Vantha, Deputy Governor of Bati District, the reports presented by Dr. Chhum Sovanvuthy, Chief of AIDS program in Takeo procince, Dr. Tong Sengkry, Coordinator of AIDS Program in Bati district on AIDS situation and Dr. San Vandine, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Partner in Compassion on activities and challenges in performing tasks at local level, H. E. Senior Minister and Chairman of NAA recommended that secretariat of provincial AIDS program have to take into account the reports on new infection figures rather than figures on general figures.

Commune, district and provincial authorities should have creative ideas in designing development plan at local level by putting AIDS, TB and Malaria plans of expanses in their own local budget, H. E. Senior Minister added. Provicial AIDS secretariat should help commune and dirtrict authorities in developing plans on AIDS, TB and Malaria in the yearly budget, H. E. Senior Minister further recommended. Furthermore, H. E. Senior Minister urged local authorities and all AIDS service providers to disseminate information on 100% condom usage as it is the safe way in preventing HIV infection.

H. E. Senior Minister and accompanied delegation also took that opportunity to pay a visit to people living with AIDS at their home in Toeuk Ambil village, Roveang communce, Bati disrict, Takeo Province.
