On July 9, 2014, H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chairman of NAA and Vice-Chairman of the National Task Force Assisting Kampong Speu province presided over the Public Forum in Boset District, Kampong Speu province with the participation of top management of the NAA, local authorities, relevant provincial departments and the locals around 300 people.

 

After welcoming and expressing his thankfulness to local authorities, armed forces and local people, H. E. Senior Minister highlighted the important of public forum held at this time. It has been the national policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia in the 5th mandate of legislature in order to engage in directly solving issues of the local people. Then, H. E. Senior Minister gave the stage to the people to raise any problems they have faced and to make suggestions if they had.

 

The local people have pointed out issues related to infrastructure and their agricultural livelihood such as: roads repair, dikes restoration, hygienic issues of local farms which have caused environmental problems in the surrounding area, old classrooms renovation, water shortage in farming, basin digging and authentic rice seed, etc.

 

Replying to the above-mentioned issues, questions and suggestions, H. E. Senior Minister asked provincial officials who were directors of Water Resource and Weather Forecasts provincial department and director of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery provincial department of Kampong Speu as well as Commune Chief to explain to the locals. For the suggestions, H. E. Senior Minister asked the Boset District Head and relevant local authorities to give report and submit the projects for finding the channel of solving them later. The above-mentioned explanations and solutions have received enthusiasm and satisfaction from the people who participated in the forum.

 

Finally, H. E. Senior Minister told the local people that the current Royal Government has been the legitimate one which was born from the free and fair election and has been working smoothly without deadlock. The conditions put forward by the opposition could not help solving problems. The promises of raising base salary and old people salary supports were just the lip service which was not applicable. Clearly, major issues such as the surge of deportation of workers from Thailand recently could be solved only by the Royal Government under the Chairmanship of Samdech Techo Hun Sen. The opposition party lacked of leadership capacity; the people had votes for them but they could not make use of the power. For they had not hold any leadership position, they surely cannot lead the country successfully.

 

H. E. Senior Minister in his capacity as the Chairman of the National AIDS Authority appealed to the people to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and gave them with gift as well as promised to try as much as he could to solve the issues and suggestions raised by the local people in Boset.

 

The forum was ended in the friendship and enjoyable atmospheres.
