NAA Chair meets with French Ambassador for the Fight Against AIDS
A meeting between Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chairman of NAA and French delegation was held at the NAA headquarters on March 12, 2014. The French delegation led by Ambassador for the fights against AIDS Philippe Meunier was composed of Dr Christian Tosi, Regional Health Advisor, and Mr. Thierry Fournier and Ms. Lara Bommers, representatives of the Embassy of France in Cambodia.
After welcoming the guests, H.E. Chairman introduced his colleagues including H.E. Tia Phala, Vice-Chairman of NAA, H.E. Teng Kunthy, Secretary General, H.E. Ros Seilavat, Deputy Secretary General and Mr. Sorn Piseth, assistant to the Chairman.
H.E. Ieng Mouly presented to the guests the NAA’s tasks in fighting against HIV/AIDS since he became chairman of the authority in October 2013 such as having the Minister of Health as the First Vice-Chairman of NAA in order to put combined efforts into fighting against HIV/AIDS more effectively. H.E. Chairman stressed that fighting against AIDS is not just medical matters. It is a plural sector effort that might involve with social affairs.
Then, H.E. Chairman presented the seven-point policy, the directive of the Royal Government of Cambodia to fight against HIV/AIDS to the French guests.
H.E. Tia Phala, after receiving permission from H.E. Chairman, delivered his presentation on the new five National Strategies to fight against HIV/AIDS.
Responding to the above-mentioned presentations, the French Ambassador expressed his gratitude and asked for a wider cooperation between France and Cambodia. The Ambassador mentioned that cooperation between France and Cambodia can be made through partnership and through regional or international mechanisms.
