NAA Chairman: 14% of Cambodian sex workers live with HIV/AIDS

Senior Minister for Special Mission Ieng Mouly, Chairman of National Aids Authority, says about 14% of almost 30,000 Cambodian sex workers in the country live with HIV/AIDS.

The remark was made in an interview with SEATV at NAA's office on Tuesday afternoon of February 4, 2014.

HE Ieng Mouly outlines that NAA in cooperation with development partners in AIDS sector and relevant ministries and institutions are currently paying much attention to the three most risky groups to HIV/AIDS. The groups are female workers in entertainment (sex) service sector, male homosexuals and drug users with drug injection.

According to NAA's statistics, 14% of the first risky group live with HIV/AIDS while 2% of the second risky group live with HIV/AIDS where as the third group is classified in high rate as the people who live with HIV/AIDS, thus, 24% of the group live with HIV/AIDS.
