H.E. Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, led a delegation to the 12th IAS Conference on HIV Science in Brisbane, Australia from July 24-26, 2023 after having participated in the  7th National Assembly Election on July 23, 2023.

The delegation included leaders of the NAA, Deputy Governor of the Board of Governors of Phnom Penh, leaders of the National Center for AIDS, and from civil society organizations, totaling 14 people. The conference was attended by more than 4,000 politicians and experts from various countries.

The IAS Conference had the sole purpose of connecting politicians and scientists to work together to respond to HIV/AIDS.

"Over the past 40 years, HIV research has taught us that progress can be made when science, policy and action work together," said IAS's Chair, Ms. Sharon Lewis.

The IAS Chair continued by saying, "Adopting the latest scientific advances and how they can best serve the most affected people around the world will be at the heart of all discussions and presentations at IAS 2023."

Vaccines and the treatment of HIV/ AIDS, the management and prevention of HIV infection, discrimination, the use of antiretroviral drugs (PrEP), the risk of HIV infection, and increased sex drive were the main topics of discussion.

H.E. Ieng Mouly also met with Ms. Sharon Lewis, Chair of the International AIDS Society, and spoke about the progress and success of the fight against HIV/AIDS in Cambodia under the wise leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
