The National AIDS Authority's Leadership Team Meeting of May 2023
The National AIDS Authority (NAA) held the Leadership Team Meeting, with the participation of senior NAA members, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 9 A.M., under the chairmanship of His Excellency Ieng Mouly, Chair of the NAA.
The meeting had the agenda as follows:
- Welcome remarks by H.E. Ieng Mouly, Chair of the NAA
- Review the agenda on the 5th Technical Working Group Meeting on the NAA's implemented decisions from the 1st Plenary Meeting of 2023
- Summary of results and remarks by H.E. Ieng Mouly
The results and remarks were as follows:
-H.E., Dr. Chhim Khin areth, Secretary General and Chairman of the NAA Technical Working Group on draft of the progress on the implementation of the decisions from the 1st Plenary Meeting in 2023.
-H.E., Dr. Tia Phalla presented the general context of the Global Fund (GF) on the common interests in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Cambodia.
-H.E. Sim Kimsan's request for the dissemination of educational messages on HIVAIDS prevention measures to students at private universities or higher education institutions during school hours.
-H.E. Sim Kim Sen on finding ways to prevent HIV positive children from constantly abandoning treatment and relaying important information inside the NAA' leadership group Telegram channel.
The recommendations were as follows:
1. Awaken young men and women in universities and high schools on HIV/AIDS.
2. Arrange a meeting with the Higher Education Association.
3. Organize meetings with sport federations or associations.
4. Work with NCHADS on the lost follow up on children.
5. Monitor testing done in the private sector.
6. The Secretary-General shall hold a plenary meeting in June and prepare documents to confirm the presence of the participants.
7. Allow H.E. Tia Phalla to attend the 52nd Meeting of the Program Coordinating Board (PCB) by preparing a release announcing 1) Cambodia's joyful participation as a member, 2) applaud the PCB on implemented works in the past, 3) Cambodia's commitment in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people.
