
The National AIDS Authority (NAA) held the monthly management meeting on the morning of Wednesday, May 3, 2023. H.E. Ieng Mouly chaired over the meeting, with Vice Chairs, Advisors, the Secretary General, Heads of departments, and other members in attendance.
The meeting had the agenda as follows:
1) Opening remarks by H.E. Senior Minister, Chair of the NAA
2) Presentation of the summary report on the work results for April and the work plan for May 2023 by H.E. Dr. Chhim Khindareth, Secretary General of the NAA
3) Presentation on the current situation and response to the HIV epidemic in Cambodia by H.E., Dr. Tia Phalla, Deputy Director of the NAA
4) Opinions from the management team
5) Closing remarks by the Chair of the NAA
The recommendations were as follows:
• Instruct the HIV/AIDS committees at all levels in the sub-national level to prepare a work and financial plan to create awareness programs for HIV/AIDS to have a greater reach, be able to verify the status of HIV-positive people who have received IDPoor cards, and check on HIV patients who have abandoned treatment and care.
• Prepare for the 1st plenary session of the National AIDS Authority in 2023 by inviting members of ministries, institutions, and developmental partners (including UNAIDS, USAID/PEPFAR, WHO, GFTAM).
• Continue to work with NCHADS/MOH to obtain data from the private sector through letter No. 053, dated April 12, 2023, where the Ministry of Health has recommended the collection of information on HIV testers and people living with HIV who have received examination and treatment at a local facility providing private health services.
• Continue to study the Ending AIDS policy, especially focusing on three angles: biology, law, and behavior.
• Learn about the abandonment of pediatric HIV treatment.
• Issue clear guidelines on outreach for HIV/AIDS committees at all levels in the sub-national level to respond more effectively to HIV/AIDS.
