H.E. Ieng Mouly received a courtesy call from Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, former State Minister of Finance, former Member of the National Diet of Japan, and Member of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan

H.E. Ieng Mouly received a courtesy call from Mr. Yukihisa Fujita, former State Minister of Finance, former Member of the National Diet of Japan, and Member of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan on March 16, 2023 at the National AIDS Authority. The meeting took place when Yukihisa Fujita came to visit Cambodia.

Senior Minister Ieng Mouly and Mr. Yukisha exchanged welcoming remarks and recalled past memories of working together. Mr. Yukisha asked the Senior Minister about his current role in the National AIDS Authority. H.E. Ieng Mouly responded by informing the Japanese guest that the National AIDS Authority is the government body that leads HIV/AIDS related works in Cambodia. The National AIDS Authority works with various ministries and institutions in the capital and in the provinces to raise funds to respond to HIV/AIDS. The Senior Minister continued by saying that Cambodia is one of the most successful countries in the fight against HIV/AIDS and Mr. Yukihisa praised the Senior Minister for his humanitarian work, from demining to the current fight against HIV/AIDS.

Mr. Yukihisa also asked the Senior Minister about the current political situation before the parliamentary elections. The Senior Minister stated that Cambodia is ready for the elections in July. The Cambodian People's Party (CPP), the ruling party headed by Samdech Techo, has assigned its leaders to help the grassroots level solve problem for the people every week. In fact, H.E. Ieng Mouly is in charge of the Borsedth District in Kampong Speu Province. If problems occur at the local level, leaders work to resolve and improve situations. The Senior Minister continued that  there are currently about 20 parties participating in the election. The best form of opposition is to participate in elections and not to create a revolutionary movement to overthrow the regime.

Finally, Mr. Yukihisa expressed his gratitude towards Cambodian scholars who have gained knowledge and experience from abroad and have returned home to help the country. At the same time, the Senior Minister informed the Japanese guest that his eldest son, who has completed his master's degree in the United States, has also returned to work in Cambodia.
