High level Reflection Workshop on Fast Track City implementation, Chaired by H.E. Senior Ieng Mouly

On Monday, October 31st 2022, the National AIDS Authority held  the "High Level Reflection Workshop on Fast Track City implementation."

On behalf of the National AIDS Authority leaders, H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly expressed his deep gratitude to Excellencies, Lok Chumteavs, Ladies and Gentlemen, representatives of Ministries, government institutions, civil societies, and other organizations, for their participation.

He also sincerely thanked USAID for supporting the workshop. He stated that the purpose of the workshop was to focus on HIV/AIDS intervention, particularly to strengthen the county system of HIV/AIDS response in the provinces of Fast Track Cities.

"We will learn from each other how to improve coordination mechanisms at the sub-national level to support an effective response to HIV/AIDS with efficiency,” he said.

His Excellency also stated that progress on the three key areas of leadership, partnership, and investment, made by the four provinces/municipalities over the past seven months of the third meeting of the accelerated Program on HIV/AIDS (FTCI) held in March 2022, will examine the following points:
A. Does the provincial/municipal administration lead and support the health department to ensure that everyone, especially key populations and people living with HIV, are receiving proper treatment with equity for HIV/AIDS?
B. What extent has the expansion of partnerships with community organizations, working on prevention and care, improved in supporting the country system for HIV/AIDS response?
C. Sub-national investment :
What extent are local resources mobilized and used?

The Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to achieving the 95-95-95 goal and ensuring that the incident rate will be less than 300 cases by 2025.
Cambodia's response to the HIV epidemic is considered a regional and global success, in which 85% of all people living with HIV know their HIV status, 99% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, and 97% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy have viral suppression.
This means that the HIV epidemic has been continuing from 11,000 cases (including key populations and their partners) who have not yet been tested and treated in the health care system.

H.E. Senior Minister raised the 9 points of the finalized decision, made during first Policy Board Meeting 2022 ( June 30th, 2022), and appealed for further intervention among all the involved stakeholders.

Over the past two years, Cambodia's HIV response has also been affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, with the implementation of closed-door measures, severely limiting the ability to carry out long-term HIV prevention and testing activities such as face-to-face education.
