
Phnom Penh: His Excellency Ieng Mouly, Senior Minister and Chair of the National AIDS Authority, told BTV News this morning, November 28, 2022 that the Kingdom of Cambodia is still a leading country in the fight against HIV / AIDS.
"As a whole, we see that Cambodia is still a leading country in the fight against HIV/AIDS," he said. In 2021, the UNAID assessment noted that on the 95-95-95 target, where 95% of all people living with HIV to know their HIV status, 95% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection to receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, and 95% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy to have viral suppression. This is the goal of the United Nations to set 95-95-95 for the whole world.
H.E Ieng Mouly, Senior Minister, stated that in order to end HIV/AIDS, the government has released policies to further prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. We all know that the target groups for this prevention program are young people under the age of 30, most of them are men who have sex with men which cause a high levels of HIV infection.
At the same time, H.E. Ieng Mouly also urged for development partners to support the strengthening of the country system for HIV/AIDS response by continuing to provide financial and technical support in the fight against HIV/AIDS under the coordination of the National AIDS Authority and calls on line ministries, institutions, provinces, municipalities, districts, and communes to work together in multi-sectoral response, have close cooperation with the Cambodian Red Cross, non-governmental organizations, civil societies and communities in order to reach this target on time.
