On Monday-Tuesday, January 24-25, 2022, in Kampot province, Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority presided over the 2022 NAA Retreat held at Kampot Provincial Health Department. Vice-Chairs, Advisors, Secretary General, Director and Deputy Director of Cabinet, Deputy Secretaries-General, Directors and Deputy Directors of Departments, Assistants, Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs of Offices, Officials of NAA, Technical Assistants, Head of Kampot AIDS program, Chief of Troeuy Koh commune, CSOs, Representatives of CRC volunteer worker, most at risk population and PLHIV were among the participants joining the retreat.
The retreat was held to discuss on strength, threat and opportunity occurred during work implementation and seek ways to solve for better performance in 2022 and beyond. Agenda of the retreat are:
1) Update on HIV and AIDS Response
2) Effective Communication in the Workplace
3) Mid-Term Review of the Fifth National Strategic Plan for Comprehensive and Multi-sectoral Response to HIV and AIDS (2019-2023)
4) Trust Building Game
5) Task of Each Strategic Working Group (S1, S2, S3, S4 and M&E)
6) Retreat report
In the opening session, Senior Minister told the participants that up to 2020 Cambodia achieved 84-100-97 of the 95-95-95 targets. So, what need to be focused, by all means—the first target and new infection among MSM and TG which seem far away and causing concern.
On the topic of Community Participation in HIV and AIDS response, Mr San Vandine, Executive Director of Passion for Compassion delivered his presentation along with Mr Pov Sonn, Troeuy Koh Commune Chief, Representative of Cambodian Red Cross Volunteer Workers, representative of most at risk population, PLHIV and representative of HACC.
After questions and answers on the above-mentioned topic, the Senior Minister praised the leadership of the Cambodian Red Cross, Troeuy Koh Commune Chief for their joint active, cordial and warm response during the last 20 years as well as the important roles play by the civil society in the fight against HIV and AIDS. To commemorate this partnership and cooperation, the Senior Minister provide the commune chief with leaflet that he helped to develop 20 years ago.
