Western Pacific Region Representatives’ Meeting on the Preparation of the Statement of the 44th Global Fund Board Meeting Held Via Video Conference
On the morning of Friday, October 30, 2020 starting from 0900, Senior Minister His Excellency Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority and member of the Global Fund Board, led a meeting of the Western Pacific Region Representatives on the preparation of the statement of the 44th Global Fund Board Meeting held via video conference.
Participating in the meeting were Dr. Jim Tulloch, member of the GF Strategy Committee; Dr. Shona Wynd, technical adviser and representative of UNAIDS Asia and the Pacific, and ladies and gentlemen, the chairs and representatives of the Global Fund Coordinating Mechanism for the Western Pacific Region Constituency from Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Vanuatu as well as the NAA’s top managers.
The meeting proceeded according to the following agenda:
1) Introduction of the participants and report on the work activities undertaken since the 43rd Board Meeting by HE Dr. Sorn Piseth.
2) Opening speech by His Excellency the Senior Minister.
3) Preparations to attend the 44th Global Fund Board Meeting to be held on November 11-12: composition of the delegations.
4) Preparation of the regional statement: topics and composers.
5) Closing remarks by His Excellency the Senior Minister.
The meeting held discussion and made decisions as follows:
1) The participants in the Global Fund Board’s 44th BlueJeans Video Conferencing Meeting to be held on November 11-12 include: 1. Senior Minister His Excellency Ieng Mouly, GF Board member; 2. Ms. Elva Lionel, Alternate Board Member; 3. HE Dr. Sorn Piseth, Communication Focal Point; 4. Dr. Jim Tulloch, member of the GF Strategy Committee as well as representatives of the GF coordination mechanisms and country members of the Western Pacific Region Constituency such as 5. Cambodia (Mr. Hem Hak); 6. China (Prof Huang Jiayan); 7. Mongolia (Ms. Oyundari Batmunkh); 8. The Philippines (Fr Dan Cancino); 9. Vietnam (Assoc. Prof. Pham Le Tuan), and Vanuatu (Ms. Siula Bulu).
2) The topics to be mentioned in the statement consist of: 1. comments on the GF Executive Director’s report; 2. COVID-19 response; 3. Global Health Security; 4. Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH), and 5. Transition and Sustainability.
3) Composer team: Dr. Jim Tulloch, HE Dr. Tea Phalla, and Dr. Sona Vanh.
