We Must Continue Supporting Royal Government and Thanking Peace Forever
Basedth: Senior Minister His Excellency Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority and Head of the National Working Group Assisting Basedth District, presided over a public forum, at Tuol Kruoh Pagoda in Dambok Kh’puoh village, Phong commune, Basedth District, Kampong Speu Province on the morning of January 29, 2020, to check out the support for the implementation of the Royal Government’s Political Platform and Rectangular Strategy Phase IV. Also in attendance at this forum were Excellencies, Lok Chumteavs, ladies, and gentlemen, the deputy heads and members the national working group, and approximately 450 representatives of expert offices, district and commune administrations, and commune administrative posts as well as armed forces.
After the deputy district governor presented a report for January 2020, addressing the forum, His Excellency the Senior Minister said:
1) The National Working Group is entrusted with very important roles and comprised of a large number of ministry representatives. It has the possibilities to address challenges that the people bring up. Especially, the commune working group heads and representatives of expert offices in the province are able to offer pieces of clear advice relating to the citizens’ needs.
2) At public forums, the citizens should be given ample opportunities to raise problems and pose questions.
Along with this, His Excellency the Senior Minister also urged the forum not to believe ill-omened propaganda, with the intent of breaking up national solidarity. Under the judicious leadership of the Royal Government, the planned November 9 military coup staged by Sam Rainsy and his accomplices has been utterly thwarted.
As regards the new respiratory illness, he asked all the citizens to take good care of their health to avert pneumonia caused by the new type of virus, Coronavirus. This new virus has already infected some 4,500 people, including one found in Cambodia. Therefore, if anyone in villages has suffered the symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, and breathing difficulties, please seek consultation and treatment at the nearest local public health centers in a timely fashion.
Moreover, he advised the citizens to take good care of their health. They must:
1) Eat proper and hygienic diet.
2) Do exercise regularly.
3) Have happy feeling.
He also mentioned, “Since being the people’s servants, we should do our utmost to address their concerns.”
Afterwards, His Excellency the Senior Minister permitted the citizens to pose questions and raise concerns and requests. The latter then presented requests pertaining to the issues of infrastructures, including repair of roads damaged by soil-transporting trucks and construction of a new dining hall for monks, a new school building, and cross-river bridges. They also brought up the issues concerning environment, community forestland, social security, and homicide.
In his answers:
• His Excellency the Senior Minister recommended that if there were issues pertaining to soil-transporting trucks, village chiefs should inform commune chiefs to summon the truck owners and provide them with advice.
• Regarding road quality, the district governor should review the bidding companies to ensure quality so that roads can be utilized lengthily.
• He contributed one million riels to the construction of the new dining hall.
• Concerning AIDS problems in Basedth District, he urged the people to take medicine correctly and get supply regularly from public health centers. They should also be faithful by having only one husband, one wife. If having sex with other partners, they should use condoms to prevent from being infected.
• For the community forestland, he asked the commune working groups as well as ministries and offices concerned to cooperate well to deal with this problem appropriately.
• As to the social security issue concerning a murder committed by a military man, a complaint has already been lodged.
Prior to concluding, His Excellency the Senior Minister offered a reminder to the forum that the working group assisting the locality is just the coordinator and inspector of the implementation of the Royal Government’s policies. Those carrying out works along with the citizens are the villages and communes, the responsible forces at localities. Therefore, the local authorities, the service providers, must do good deeds and provide the people with public services in a better and timely manner.
Lastly, His Excellency the Senior Minister asked the citizens to continue supporting the Royal Government led by the Cambodian People's Party and thanking peace forever.
