Senior Minister His Excellency Ieng Mouly Holds Working Meeting With UNAIDS Director to Kingdom of Cambodia
Senior Minister His Excellency Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, held a working meeting with Mrs. Dr. Vladanka Andreeva, UNAIDS country director to the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the authority’s headquarters on the morning of October 21, 2019.
His Excellency the Senior Minister and the director, Mrs. Dr. Vladanka Andreeva, discussed and exchanged information about the progress and updates on:
A. The elimination of the mother-to-child HIV transmission, achieved under the great leadership and support of Samdech Kittipritthbindit, President of the Cambodian Red Cross and the National Champion of the Asia-Pacific Leadership Forum on HIV / AIDS and development in Cambodia.
B. The outcome of the Global Fund’s Replenishment Conference attended by His Excellency the Senior Minister in Lyon, France, on October 9-10, 2019. The final result was that the Global Fund obtained pledges of US$14,028.86 millions from 75 donors, including governments, the private sector, and international organizations. The major donors are as follows:
1. The United States pledged $4,680 millions;
2. Great Britain $1,716 millions;
3. France $1,429 millions;
4. Germany $1,102 million;
5. Japan $840 millions;
6. Mr. Bill Gates $760 millions;
7. Canada $699 millions, and
9. European Union $606 millions.
C. The celebration of the Word AIDS Day under the theme: communities make a difference.
D. The coordination of the visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia by Chair of Global Fund Board from headquarter in Geneva.
E. The request for cooperation on a municipality-initiated plan to fast-tract the end of the spread of HIV in Phnom Penh and in town of Siem Reap and Battambang.
F. The adjustment, requested by development partner organizations, of the composition and leadership of HIV/AIDS development partners’ Technical Working Groups.
