Senior Minister His Excellency Ieng Mouly--Chair of the National AIDS Authority, member of the Cambodian People's Party Central Committee, and head of the Central Working Group assisting Basedth District--and Madam as well as Excellencies, Lok Chumteavs, ladies, gentlemen, and misses, top leaders, and civil servants of the National AIDS Authority joined the administrations and locals of the district’s Svay Rumpea and Pheary Meanchey communes to celebrate the Kan Ben on Day 6 at Slap Leng and Thoameak Mongkol Pagodas on the morning of September 19, 2019.
After presenting offerings to Buddhist monks and donating cash for building the pagodas, His Excellency the Senior Minister said, we are jointly celebrating the Kan Ben Festival to uphold Buddhism’s value and our national traditions, making them more glorious. Nowadays, we have growth, with such as various achievements built in the pagodas that we are witnessing. We jointly celebrate and make merit to have people love each other. The Royal Government has been leading to have unity towards attaining the goal of safeguarding peace and keeping development going on.
Please trust that we are not poor any longer, for we already have resources. At present, we have assets and reserves to ensure operations for six more months without any problems. What we are doing right now is that we want to preserve Cambodian characteristic. Nonetheless, a handful of politicians have refused to recognize the growth by barring investors from doing business in and lobbying aid donors to stop providing assistance to Cambodia, and then they pretend to be patriots.
His Excellency the Senior Minister went on to say that the Royal Government has bent backwards to attract investors to open factories in Cambodia and search for markets to help people get jobs. Only with investors coming to invest can our children and grandchildren have works to do. The key factor is that there is growth when only we have jobs.
In Basedth District, we have earned millions of dollars from workers’ salaries every month, and the fact that we celebrate this Sixth Kan Ben Festival is that we need to join hands to preserve our glorious cultural tradition. The reason we jointly celebrate is to make common merit, and the working group assisting the locality will continue carrying out this task forever. Our objective is to heighten the spirit of patriotism and love for culture.
At the end, His Excellency the Senior Minister advised that the spirit of national solidarity be strengthened further.
