H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly: We Are So Fortunate To Have Samdech Decho Behind Helping Us Offer Message About AIDS Every Time Meeting Workers
H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, presided over the February 2019 monthly meeting at the National AIDS Authority headquarters on the morning of February 28, 2019, with the participation of 89 leading managers, advisers, and officials.
Following the opening of the meeting and the announcement of its agenda, H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly permitted His Excellency Teng Kunthy, secretary general of the National AIDS Authority, to present the February 2019 monthly report, and His Excellency Tea Phalla, vice chair of the authority, to make presentation of a workshop planned to be organized in Pailin City on 5-6 March 2019 to appraise the work undertaken in 2018 and set targets for 2019.
After listening to the report and presentation, H.E. Senior Minister said today’s meeting is to exchange views and seek methodologies to keep work going. Our Cambodia has led the fight against AIDS successfully. Our multisectoral response to AIDS is factor enabling us to attain success.
Moreover, he emphasized that we are now so lucky to have Samdech Decho behind helping us offer educational message about AIDS every time he meets tens of thousands of workers.
H.E. Senior Minister went on to say that by the of January 2019, we were invited as orator, to the Prince Mahidol Award Conference on Non-Communicable Diseases, using, as lesson, experiences on HIV response. The incorporation of AIDS programs into our ministries and institutions still cannot be done in other countries. The world is eager to know why we have been so successful. The integration of AIDS in the Village/Commune Safety Policy and the provision of ID-Poor cards to people living with HIV are also part of our endeavors. Our Royal Government of Cambodia has also paid attention to children and pregnant women as well. Nonetheless, we do not have yet programs for adults. Obese people have faced health risk.
We, as an authority, have been taken as model and inspired thanks to our commencement to use national budget. We have to keep strengthening the capacity of officials by holding monthly training sessions. All of the officials have to take part in the instruction.
Prior to ending the meeting, H.E. Senior Minister advised the authority’s leading managers to conduct discussions and studies in order to present action plans in line with the letter of announcement No. 213 SCN.SS dated 21 February 2019 introducing six-point measures in response to HIV and AIDS, before convening an inter-ministerial meeting to enable relevant ministries and the AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria Committee to be cognizant of the work which should be done. The Royal Government’s concurrence as stated in the above-mentioned letter represents a great success for the National AIDS Authority, which has a many great works to carry out in this 2019.
At the end, H.E. Senior Minister advised all the leading managers and officials, participating in the workshop to review the work performance in 2018, to comprehensively set targets for 2019 and closely collaborate to exchange views in a candid fashion.
