H.E Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, has reminded that “Valentine’s Day” on February 14 should not be misconstrued as day of love for sweethearts, leading to committing indecent acts, contrary to national tradition, and causing health problems.
H.E. Senior Minister advised that the youth should love their families, love the nation, and especially, love themselves by making absolutely certain that they are in good health as well as bamboo shoot succeeding bamboo and as the nation’s successors. Hence, they should know how to care for their health, thwart HIV/AIDS transmission, and stay away from drugs.
The Senior Minister called for “faithful love between one husband and one wife, 100 percent use of condoms when having sex with outside partners, and prompt blood test if one suspects that one is carrying HIV in order to obtain urgent counseling and life-long treatment.”
It is should be recalled that yesterday, February 13, the National AIDS Authority, in collaboration with a number of HIV/AIDS nongovernmental organizations, such as KHANA, FHI360, PSI, AHF, and other partners concerned, conducted a campaign to disseminate educational message about HIV/AIDS transmission prevention to passers-by and the compatriots residing nearby.
