His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly Attends Global Fund’s Preparatory Meeting in New Delhi, India, To Mobilize Package of Additional Funds for 2020-2022

Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, attended the Global Fund’s preparatory meeting held in New Delhi, India, from February 6 to 9, 2019 to mobilize package of additional funds for 2020-2022. 
 
On the morning of February 7, 2019, His Excellency the Senior Minister visited the AIDS center in New Delhi, and on the afternoon of the same day, he took part in a ceremony to announce health achievements attained by India attended by the health minister of the Republic of India. Afterwards, the Senior Minister participated in a welcoming reception hosted, with traditional dance performance, by the Indian Ministry of Culture.

On the afternoon of February 7, the Indian Minister of Health hosted a reception for the heads of various delegations. Attending the function with His Excellency the Senior Minister were the Ministers of Health from Uganda, Rwanda, and Liberia; the heads of the EU delegation; deputy director-general of the World Health Organization; the French Ambassador; the chair of the Board of the Global Fund, and leading officials of the Indian Ministry of Health.

On February 8, His Excellency the Senior Minister partook in a preparatory meeting for mobilizing aid funds to be provided by the Global Fund for 2020-2022. At this meeting, there were presentations showcased by health experts and by the heads of the delegations of donor countries, such as Sweden, Germany, France, Japan, Norway, and so forth. All the countries expressed their optimism about the funds they would announce in France in October 2019. The financial assistance to be mobilized was set at $14 billion.

At the opening of the meeting, Luxembourg was the first country announcing that it would offer nine million euro for the Global Fund 2020-2022 programs.
