
Dr. Liu Yunguo, the outgoing World Health Organization representative to Cambodia, paid a courtesy call on and bade farewell to His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, at the National AIDS Authority Headquarters on the morning of February 12, 2019.
His Excellency the Senior Minister commended and thanked the doctor, the representative of World Health Organization to Cambodia, for his close cooperation and work with the National AIDS Authority in responding to HIV/AIDS as well as in managing and coordinating the Global Fund program of fighting AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria in the Kingdom of Cambodia, during his being elected as Chair of the Global Fund Country Coordinating Committee for two consecutive terms, while the doctor, representing the World Health Organization, selected as vice chair.
Dr. Liu Yunguo extolled and thanked His Excellency the Senior Minister for his support and close cooperation with the World Health Organization in promoting the coverage of response and multisectoral support with sustainability and ownership, with the participation of nongovernmental and civil society organizations, especially the group representing the citizens living with HIV. He specifically praised the adept leadership in managing and coordinating the Global Fund’s projects, with the Senior Fund Management Team, government ministries and institutions, and parties concerned. The doctor voiced his ardent hope that experiences and successes in the mechanism of fighting against and response to HIV/AIDS in Cambodia might be implemented in combating against and responding to non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and so forth.
At the end, His Excellency the Senior Minister presented the doctor with best wishes for success in his new World Health Organization undertaking and a memento as well.
