His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly Presides Over Opening of Meeting of Western Pacific Region Constituency of Global Fund Board

On the morning of April 25, 2018, His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority and Chair of the Country Coordinating Committee of the Global Fund for Cambodia, presided over the 2nd meeting of the Western Pacific Region Constituency at Angkor Century Hotel in Siem Reap Province.

 

Participating in the meeting there were top leaders of the National AIDS Authority, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, delegates from 1. Cambodia, 2. Cook Islands, 3. Federated States of Micronesia, 4. Fiji, 5. Kiribati, 6. Laos, 7. Malaysia, 8. Nauru, 9. Papua New Guinea, 10. Philippines, 11. Samoa, 12. Singapore, 13. Solomon Islands, 14. Vanuatu and 15. Viet Nam. Global Fund and World Health Organization officials also attended the meeting.

 

The meeting was held for the following three key objectives:

1.    To provide forum to WPR Constituency members to update and to share information that will enable leaders and members WPR constituency to participate in GF board with effectiveness.  

2.    To identify and develop wide response of the constituency that can be submitted to the 39th session of the Board meeting.

3.    To foster constituency community that is guided by an agreed WPR operating guideline and processes including regular schedule of gathering of its members and partners thorough practical and innovative modalities.

 

Moreover, the meeting will elect new leadership of WPR constituency.

Following welcome expressed made by Mrs. You Sophea, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, the Senior Minister opened the meeting, underscoring the success in maintaining peace, cutting down poverty, strengthening social welfare, and, especially, Cambodia’s success in fighting against AIDS. He said Cambodia is one of the seven countries in the world, including Botswana, Denmark, Iceland, Singapore, Sweden, and England, which have been recognized by UNAIDS to have achieved 90-90-90.
