Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, paid a visit to patients being treated at Siem Reap Province’s Referral Hospital on the morning of April 25, 2018, while attending the Western Pacific Region Constituency of Global Fund meeting.
It should be pointed out that in the fourth quarter of 2017 at Siem Reap Province’s Referral Hospital, there were 3,218 AIDS patients receiving antiretroviral drugs, 73 new registered patients, 33 patients abandoning treatment, and nine cases of death.
The Senior Minister exchanged views with the referral hospital’s Director, Managers, and Doctors about achievement by the hospital as well as difficulties and challenges in providing medical services and care to patients living with AIDS, especially to impoverished patients.
It should be recalled that the Royal Government has helped supporting poor families by providing them with ID poor card so that they could receive health care services and treatment for free of charge at public hospitals and health centers with subsidy using he Equity Fund which is sponsored jointly by the Royal Government and donors.
After being briefed by the hospital’s Director, His Excellency the Senior Minister then proceeded to visit and present gifts personally to patients receiving treatment at the hospital.
