His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of National AIDS Authority, Presides Over Global Fund Evaluation Workshop
His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, presided over the opening of the annual workshop on the country expectation assessment of Global Fund at Raffles Le Royal Hotel in Phnom Penh on the morning of March 29, 2018. Participating in the workshop were Their Excellencies, Lok Chumteav, ladies, and gentlemen, the members of the Executive Commission and Coordinating Committee of the Global Fund; representatives of institutions, development partners, civil society, and vulnerable population groups, as well as technical advisers and experts performing AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria related works.
Addressing the workshop, His Excellency the Senior Minister said that last year, the technical review assessment team had asked for a written country expectation assessment and offered full recommendations on the implementation and impact of the Global Fund strategy 2017-2022: “Investment to end the spread of viruses.” The country expectation assessment is a form of initiative assessment that has taken place concurrently with the chunk of the current Global Fund financing 2018-2020. This work helps them in making observation and offering timely feedback in accordance with the Global Fund working model.
The country expectation assessment has already been operating in Cambodia almost one year in a changing and evolving environment. The Ministry of Economy and Finance, as direct aid recipient, is playing a new role and assuming a new responsibility in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
His Excellency the Senior Minister added that Cambodia and the Global Fund have achieved great goals together over the past more than one decade and have progressed along the right path. Through partnership, comprehensive integration, and cooperation, our country has almost reached the goal of fighting against malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis.
At the end, His Excellency the Senior Minister thanked the Global Fund for supporting the health sector, and he wished the workshop fruitful success in the whole-day discussion with a view to preparing and prioritizing the country expectation assessment to ensure sustainability in the transitional co-financing phase. He also wished the workshop members the four gems of Buddhist blessings: longevity, nobility, healthiness, and strength.
