His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly Holds Get-Together With Nephew and Niece Workers in Tuol Ampel Commune, Basedth District, Kampong Speu Province
Senior Minister His Excellency Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority and Chair of the National Working Group assisting Basedth District, presided over a get-together with 1,500 male and female workers in Tuol Ampel Commune, Basedth District, Kampong Speu Province, on the morning of 1 April 2018.
Also attending the event were the excellencies, ladies, and gentlemen, the managers of the National AIDS Authority; the working group assisting Tuol Ampel Commune; provincial officials; Basedth district officials; armed forces, and the citizens in Tuol Ampel Commune.
After a representative of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training briefed the compatriot workers of the Royal Government’s endeavor in considering raising salaries for and providing diverse benefits to workers and after questions were posed for the workers to answer for rewards, addressing the gathering, His Excellency the Senior Minister said that if we want peace, we all should vote for the Cambodian People's Party, then Samdech Techo will lead to peace and continue the development. The Royal Government of Cambodia, with Samdech Techo as head, has devoted effort in caring for workers’ livelihood and welfare by offering them pay rises every year and providing them with a slew of benefits, including: 1) social security--when they fall ill or have accidents, workers can receive free medical treatment, and when they get old, they will get retirement pension every month and 2) pregnant workers are permitted to leave early and have a three-month paid maternity leave.
His Excellency the Senior Minister went on to say it was in great difficulties before peace could be achieved. Therefore, we have to join hands to protect peace to ensure development.
Last week, while visiting people’s homes, His Excellency heard they propagandized that Cambodia became poor and poorer. In reality, we are not poor at all. The World Bank has announced that Cambodia has no longer been a cash-strapped country since 2016. Now, when we beg, they stop giving money but offer loan to us. The people say they are poor because they owe money to banks. Those who owe banks are well-off people. However, they misunderstand that banks belong to the State. Obviously, the more the country becomes rich, the more the debts increase. The opposition acknowledges development, but it says people are still heavily indebted. The more the country becomes rich, the more the debts increase. The United States is the most indebted country and Singapore, too, is the most indebted nation in ASEAN. Debts owed to banks are a commonplace matter.
His Excellency the Senior Minister pointed out to the gathering that the peace issue is vitally important. If there had not been Samdech Techo’s leadership, we do not know how many times war would have already erupted. If those who declare that they are smart ascended to power, the country would certainly be in war again due to color painting. Our present-day country is independent, but not a puppet of anyone. The Paris Accords led us to holding the 1993 election.Do not trust the opposition leader with his comments about the Paris Accords, but the 12 negotiators of and signatories to the accords, including His Excellency the Senior Minister himself. The Paris Accords have already been incorporated in the Constitution, which specifies that the election should be held every five years. Therefore, all the compatriots should ready themselves to go to the polls on 29 July. Those who fail to cast their vote are those who disrespect democracy.
At the end, His Excellency the Senior Minister made an appeal, saying we have to go and cast our ballots for the Cambodian People's Party to enable Samdech Techo to continue to lead for the sake of peace, provide benefits to workers, and develop the whole nation. His Excellency the Senior Minister wished the workers and people present at the ceremony the four gems of Buddhist blessings-- longevity, nobility, healthiness, and strength--without fail.
