At the National AIDS Authority headquarters on the afternoon of February 2, 2018, His Excellency Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority, presided over a ceremony to receive 648,000 condoms, worth US$103,680, from His Excellency Pin Chhin, special adviser to the Ministry of Interior, to respond to HIV, with the aim of moving towards ending the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Kingdom of Cambodia by 2025.
His Excellency Senior Minister thanked and praised His Excellency Pin Chhin for the condoms donated to the National AIDS Authority, which constitutes a valuable contribution towards fighting to curb the HIV/AIDS spread in Cambodia more effectively.
Moreover, His Excellency the Senior Minister assertively recalled the importance of the putting into practice of the 100% use of condom by the Royal Government of Cambodia in 1999 through Announcement 66 sar-cho-nar (Government Directive), contributing crucially to cutting down HIV spread, which is key to the success in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Cambodia.
Now, though Cambodia is successful in combating AIDS and providing antiretroviral drug treatment and despite a large number of AIDS-infected people being able to live on and have normal health, new cases of HIV spread have kept occurring. That being the case, the best option is to thwart the HIV spread by further implementing the measure of urging the 100% condom use, which is the most effective one.
In conclusion, His Excellency Senior Minister wished His Excellency Pin Chhin and his colleagues, good health and success in all their tasks.
