H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly headed inter-institution consultative meeting to identify and to incorporate HIV prevention intervention into Village-Commune Safety Policy
At the National AIDS Authority offices, in the afternoon of July 20, 2017, H.E. Senior Minister Ieng Mouly, Chair of the National AIDS Authority led inter-Ministry consultative meeting to determine and to include HIV prevention activities into current Village-Commune Safety Policy and measures to enhance contribution of the Villages and Communes in HIV prevention`s efforts.
The meeting was highly attended by H.E General Keat Chatharith, representative from the Ministry of Interior, Excellency, Lok Chumteav, Ladies and Gentlemen from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and other relevant Ministries and Institutions.
H.E Senior Minister stated that so far there are 9 points in our Village-Commune safety policy while HIV prevention intervention and response will become point number 10 that will additionally mobilize participation from people in community (Village and Communes) and local authority that are major components of Sub-national administration.
It should be reminded that based on policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia, a directive was made at the end of 2013 instructed the National AIDS Authority, the Ministry of Health, the National Authority for combating drugs, the Ministry of Interior and relevant Ministries to jointly enhance enabling environment for interventions and efforts to prevent HIV and to response to AIDS among high risks population such as female entertainment workers, men who have sex with men, trans genders and drug users.
